Day 13- Tailgate Chili

  1. Your chili looks delicious. The sizzling sound makes me hungry. I'm really enjoying your trip and I didn't have to fly to get there.

  3. chili recipe you requested:

    1 lb ground beef or turkey
    1 small onion - chopped really tiny like (trust me you won't know they are there - you are in Italy now - you must become more sophisticated!)
    1 small carrot - grated
    1 or 2 cans of 14.5 oz kidney beans or cannelini beans
    1 28 oz can diced tomatoes with chili peppers
    1 bottle of beer (then fill bottle with same amount of water and add)
    1 small can tomato paste
    2 tsps chili powder
    2 tsps cumin
    1 tsp salt
    1 tsp cayene pepper
    1 tsp garlic powder

    having become a prolific chef over there is Italy - I'm sure you will know what to do with those ingredients.

    I am going to try this recipe and I will let you know how it is~!

    2 teaspoons oil
    2 onions, chopped
    3 cloves garlic, minced
    1 lb lean ground beef
    3/4 lb beef sirloin, cubed
    1 (14 1/2 ounce) can diced tomatoes
    1 can dark beer
    1 cup strong coffee
    2 (6 ounce) cans tomato paste
    1 can beef broth
    1/2 cup brown sugar
    3 1/2 tablespoons chili sauce
    1 tablespoon cumin
    1 tablespoon cocoa
    1 teaspoon oregano
    1 teaspoon cayenne
    1 teaspoon coriander
    1 teaspoon salt
    4 (15 ounce) cans kidney beans
    4 chili peppers, chopped
    Change Measurements: US | Metric

    Directions:
    Prep Time: 30 mins

    Total Time: 2 1/2 hrs
    1 Heat oil.
    2 Cook onions, garlic and meat until brown.
    3 Add tomatoes, beer, coffee, tomato paste and beef broth.
    4 Add spices Stir in 2 cans of kidney beans and peppers.
    5 Reduce heat and simmer for 1 1/2 hours.
    6 Add 2 remaining cans of kidney beans and simmer and MANGIA!
